How to: Crochet Braids For Beginners!

How To: CROCHET BRAIDS For Beginners! (Step By Step) |Breanna Rutter

“Hey Everybody! Today I am going to teach you how to achieve this natural, gorgeous, BEAUTIFUL look by doing the Crochet hairstyle! So, this of course is the original crochet style besides doing braid crochet. But I am going to show you how to actually do this look on your own hair.”

“You only need a few supplies to do this look and some of these supplies are optional. SO, make sure that you have your hair ready so that you can be looping it onto your braids. And I used three packs of pre-crochet hair. Now, to begin, this is the braid pattern you want to do to achieve this exact look. You want those two braids to cross and go all the way down to the back. Then, you want to be braiding away from those two braids, making sure to add the tail in until the very next braid. So that, you can create a braid pattern that looks like this. So, every time you braid, make sure to grab the tail end of the previous braid and put it into that braid. So, the tail in braid one goes into braid two, and the tail in braid two goes into braid three. And, you keep doing the same thing until you reach the back to have a one tail end braid.”

“What you want to do is bring your tail end of the braid up because that’s when you are going to begin stitching it down to your braid pattern! So, cut off a little bit of weaving thread and then you are going to take a curved or straight needle, which ever you prefer. You are going to put the thread through the eye of the needle, bring those two pieces together and simply form a knot. It is so easy to thread needles, but a lot of you actually ask me in the comment section how to do it. So, I am showing you a demonstration of how simple and easy this is. So, you need one needle to stitch down that one braid you have in the back. So, you just off that little bit of thread at the top, make sure to tighten your knot, and there you go! That’s simply how you thread a needle!”

“So, now we are going to start by stitching that braid, and I am going to start where I just pointed. You want to start by putting your needle through your braid, under your braid on your scalp. Then begin doing the stitching technique to actually stich down your braid. The stitching technique that I like to do is, I like to grab the thread, wrap it twice around the needle, and then pull the needle through. Or, you can wrap it twice around your fingers, insert the needle and pull the needle through. The only thing you need to do is, like I stated, make sure you wrap it around twice. Whether you do it around your fingers or the needle. It is simply extremely easy to stitch it down. This is the same stitching technique I do when I am actually doing a sew in. So now once you secure that last knot, you just cut off that remaining thread.”

Here comes Weaving Thread. It is used to stitch down your Braids

“At this point, this is optional, but what I am doing is I am greasing my scalp. Or, you may refer to this as oiling your scalp. So, I am using a hair growth oil to actually put on my part before I begin crocheting. Now this is the pre-looped crochet hair that I purchased. So, what I am going to do is show you how to prep it. So, what I do is I grab one of the coils and unravel it all the way out. And then, once I do that, I gently separate it into two parts. So, as you can see here, this is one of the pieces that I took from it, and I only divided it into two. Now if you divide it any further, it will make your look look frizzy and afro-type, it’s up to you on the look you want to achieve. I already stitched in one row and I am going to show you an example of how you want to actually space each piece. So, you can see here it’s about a finger space between each piece in the back. When you are crocheting your hair in the back, it is very important that you space it, because it tends to very full very quickly. You want to make sure you are closer near the top with the pieces you add than further in the back. And I am going to show you how to do that. To crochet your hair on, you want to grab a piece of hair, and you want to hold it very tight at the point that you are going to crochet it. So, you have no loose hairs that stick out and get tangled. And this is how tight you want to form it around your finger. Now what we are going to do is we are going to go two finger spaces at a time at the very back of our head. This is extremely important if you don’t want your look to be too thick but full enough. So now, we are going to insert the crochet latch and then we are going to hook the hair onto it, and then we are going to close the latch, and then pull it through the braid.”

“Every time you insert your latch, make sure it is open. When you pull it back through the braid, make sure its closed. And you just, loop the tail end section once, pull the loop at the top, and that’s how you actually want to tighten your hair in the back. Once we get to the top, it’s going to be a little bit different. But this is how you are going to do it for the most part. So, now for the second section, we are doing the same thing. Make sure that you are about two finger spaces away from your previous section. You can go underneath both of these braids that you stitched, loop your hair on, and then close the latch. And then, when you pull it through, all you do is insert your fingers inside the loop to grab the two tail end pieces. And then, you just pull it and tighten it by pulling the two sections and make sure it is tight on your braids.”

“As you can see, we are already getting pretty full. But, you want to continue to space and the look will come out just fine. So, as you can see here, you want to make sure you go about that distance as you are in the back until you get to the top. So, this is how your hair should look so far. “

“So, now at this point, I already crocheted most of my hair, and I am just lifting it up to show you guys how it looks on the sides, as well as the back. Because this look is short, I am going to be wearing it down. But, if you had a longer look with this technique, you could wear a ponytail if you so desire.”

“So now that we are at the top, you still want to coil the hair tighter. So that way you can loop it on, so that the sections at the top will be a little bit smaller, and it would be about a finger space width away from one another. So, you loop the hair on as I previously showed you and as I go back through the braid, you close the latch. Insert your fingers through and grab the two tail ends and pull them together. Now you continue to tighten your knot exactly like this for most of the part. But as soon as you get to the top, we are going to do a slightly different technique. So now I am going to show you one more time since we are at the very top of this braid. We are going to do the same technique, but you want to get closest to the top as possible for a very seamless look. So, you just insert your hair through and then you insert your fingers through to grab the two tail end pieces to actually tighten it on your knot. Make sure that when you are at the top, the spacing with is a finger width apart. But as you can see, it looks extremely close together because the hair is so voluminous. Because it has so much volume, it looks like I literally stitched it side by side, but in reality, I did about a finger width apart. So, now at the very back, you are going to do the same thing, because you are at the top of your head. It gives the illusion that your hair is not extremely thick at the top but is full enough to look very natural. The problem with a lot of crochet styles that look unnatural is that the chunks of hair are too big and also that the chunks of hair are stitched too close together. As you near the top, make sure that each of the pieces of hair that you are adding is actually smaller in comparison to the pieces of hair that you added in the back.”

“So now we two braids left in our part and this my friends, is the most important part of the style because it ties in the look together perfectly. When you loop your hair through, you want to make sure you only grab one tail end of your lock and pull it through. You create a knot while leaving the other piece outside of the knot. This is exactly how you want to stitch your hair at your part because this is how you do the invisible roots technique. So, I’m going to continue to teach you EXACTLY how to achieve this look because it is extremely easy.”

“Now, when you loop your hairs through, make sure to do a slight turn, so it helps to enhance the tightness of the knot in your part. You don’t have to do that throughout the rest of your style, but you definitely want to do it right here at the top. Now that most of it is done, we have a little section left. I am going to demonstrate how you want to do it on the other side. Now, this may be a little bit tricky depending on which hand is dominant for you. For me, it is my right hand, so when I loop it on the left side of my head, it’s just a little tricky. So, what I do is I just do the same exact thing, but I just go a little slower to make sure you don’t cause any tangling. Because, you always want to make sure that you are always going underneath the braid in the part. So, always come in going towards the part of your head, not away from the part. That way, it helps your hair to lay perfectly for the style.”

“So now, on this last section here, make sure to go as closely to your hairline as possible, because this makes it look extremely seamless. Because, if you don’t do this part, you will see some of your hair and it will not look blended. So, it very important that you get very close to your hairline, all the way near the top of your part, so that way you can continue the invisible root technique to tie in your look!”

“So, as you can see, this is how it looks when I finish doing the invisible look near the part, as I’ve added all the hair onto my style. I’ve used about two and a half bundles of the pre-crochet hair for this look. So, you’re going to need hair thinning shears or scissors to actually thin out the hair. But, I love the thickness of this look because it looks so beautiful and natural. So, I am just trimming up any frizzy or loose ends that don’t tie in as well. And I am also slightly shaping it as I cut. So, I’m not cutting off any length, I am just cleaning up the shape that it naturally has.

After trimming it up, I like to go ahead and fluff out the hair a little bit, so that it looks more tied in together. And I am just checking the other side too, to make sure that it is just right for my look!”

“Thank you so much for watching my Crochet Braids hairstyle! So, ladies, I want you to rock this look and wear all types of colors and curl patterns to see what you like best!”

11 STYLES WITH 1 WIG! *NEW OUTRE VIXEN U WIG ‘RYLEE’! HELP ME CHOOSE WHICH STYLE LOOKS BEST! |BEIGE OJAI

“Hey guys, welcome back to my channel! My name is Beige, if you’re new here, welcome! So today, I’m super excited about this video because I was sent this Outré wig! AND when I first started wearing affordable wigs, Outré was my go to company to try wigs from. I was obsessed with all the wigs that they had! But lately, I haven’t been hearing much from them and I haven’t been seeing any of their new styles, so I was excited when they reached out to me and told me that they came out with a new line of wigs and they asked me to try them out!”

“So, the new line of wigs that they have is called the Swiss U Lace Front Wig. So, the key points to know about this wig is that it is made from 100% heat resistant fiber, it does have a double U cap construction, it has endless styling versatility, it also has a pre plucked, hand-tied lace, the Swiss lace is softer than most, it is comfortable to wear and like I said, it is easy to maintain.”

“So, I do notice that they have four different styles in the Swiss U cap construction, there is Kendall, Krisita, Jordyn and Rylee, and I chose to try Rylee.”

“So, taking Rylee out of the package, I love the big curls that she has. This is the first time that I have tried a wig with ponytails on it when you first take it out of the packaging. But I do like the fact that they sectioned off each of the sections so that once you put it on your head, it would be easy to see where the parting space is, so that you can style it quicker. As opposed to getting a lace frontal synthetic wig, this already comes parted for you so you don’t have to worry about molding it into a part. “

“Looking at the construction of this wig, I do see why it’s called a Double U, I see a U here *points to lower region of scalp* and then another U here *points to higher region on scalp*. There is a total of 5 combs that this wig comes with. There is a comb in the back as well s an adjustable strap in the back. There is comb in the front above each section of your head, and then there is also a comb on the right and left side of the middle part. You do have a lace edge around the hairline, which means that you can add hair with either glue, tape or gel. Rylee does come with baby hairs and she also has Swiss lace in the back. And I do notice that she is not a super silky straight texture, she definitely has some coarseness to her. She is very, very full. So, let’s try her on!”

“So, I’m just going to make sure she fits on my head by securing the comb in the back and then stretching her forward. This wig JUST fits, and I do have a big head, but it does feels secure. How does she look y’all? *laughs* I don’t know y’all… she isn’t that bad! So, we’re just going to mess around with her and see what we got! As you can see, she’s not super-duper long, But I do feel like she is a good length.”

“Okay guys, so I want to show you how the hairline is looking. So, the first thing that I am going to do with this is wig that anywhere that you see lace which is the area around where my hairline is, the two double U’s and the line in the middle, I’m just going to grab a powder foundation and I’m just going to put some powder on top of that, so that it can blend in a little more with my skin complexion. So, one thing that I did notice with this wig off the bat is that the parting spaces are already plucked for you. But I do feel like they are over plucked, to the point that that is no hair coming out of the parting spaces. Instead of thinning out the part, there’s no, knots there if that makes any sense and I’ve never seen that before. So, I don’t know how natural that is going to look, but we are about to find out!”

*Applies powder to lace parting areas*

“Okay, now that I did that, I’m just going to take these little ponytails off because I don’t the wig to possibly come off as I’m trying to style it. I’m just going to loosen those and take these clear little clips that come with it off as well. Aright, now that I got those off, I’m just going to spray my hairline with the got2b glued blasting Freeze Spray.”

      *Applies wig to head*

“Then, massage the wig into that spray. What do y’all think? Should I do baby hairs or no baby hairs? This is how she looks with no baby hairs. Obviously if you want her to look more natural, you have to go in with your tweezers and tweeze along the lace edge portion of the wig. If you were to tweeze you would obviously have to get rid of the shed hair, so you would have ti either run your fingers through it or brush it away and that will ruin the curls. So, I’m not going to that in this video, so we are going to leave the wig as is without plucking it. So, this is how she looks when you take her out of the package and didn’t want any baby hairs. But, I love my baby hairs y’all so I’m going to go ahead and add some. I’m going to be using the Gorilla Snot gel, and I am going to apply that, put my head scarf on, and I’ll be right back!”

“Okay, I’m back! The only thing I did was literally just do my baby hairs and put the headscarf on so, let’s see what we got here! I did leave the headscarf on for 10 minutes, just to let the baby hairs and the got to be to set. She’s not bad, she’s not bad! I just have to get her a little flat at the top and just because she already has a middle part going on, I’m going to leave the middle part for this hairstyle. But, she’s pretty, she’s very, very full, I would just love for her to be a little more flat at the top. So, I’m just going to grab some water, and spray her down. “ *Flattens top of head*

“I’m just going to grab my scissors and give her a little more layers in the front here. In case you wanted to do a middle part, you can see how I would style her. Just going to cut a little bit more. The next thing I’m going to do is brush, not all the way through but just at the top of the hair to flatten it out some, just to mold it a little bit. Then I’m going to put my scarf on and leave this on for about two minutes and then take it off. “

*Models hairstyle Chaka Khan from different angles. *

“I do feel like because of the construction of this wig, it is difficult to have the hair laying completely flat at the top, and the reason for that is because there are parts here and then there are tracks in between, and because of that, there is a hump that you get. So, if you wanted it to be completely flat I feel like you’d have to slice out hair or thin or shed it out from here to get it completely flat. So that is a tip if you do want it flat, but if you don’t want to, it will look like this. You can probably get some bobby pins, if you want to do a hair style like that and add some water like I did, and then smooth it down like this, and then put the bobby pins here *places pins right above ear*, like that’s a style I’ve been seeing people wear. So, we are going to try that and see how it comes out. I’m just going to put bobby pons here and have it looking big at the bottom. The flatter you can get it, the better it looks. Very cute! I think this is cute! I love this! Let me just brush it out to make it a little less perfect… and to you know, give me more volume. “

*Models hair from different angles. *

“I think the next style I want to do is probably a ponytail because how it looks sleek and flat like this and then big volume at the end. So, this is the second look, with it looking like it’s in two ponytails, you would probably have to get something to hold it down more if you chose to do this hairstyle. But I LOVE THIS! You could add some gold stuff, so we are going to do that! I don’t know if I want to add the gold things to the front because I don’t have a cornrow there and people mostly use cornrows there. Let me put the little gold thing here *places on top center of head. * I mean, if I had a few of them, that would be REALLY cute. Let’s try it! “

*Places three gold loops on the middle and two sides of head, models hairstyle in different angles. *

MUST HAVE- OUTRE PERFECT HAIR LINE 13x6 CRUSH REVIEW

MUST HAVE- OUTRE PERFECT HAIR LINE 13x6 CRUSH REVIEW FT. BEAUTYKREW | RhythmNBeauty

“This unit is a courtesy from a new company to my channel, which is called BeautyKrew. They were kind enough to send your girl three different units! But I’m going to show you guys only one unit in this video. And that is this sexy thaang right here! I had to give her her own separate video. I was going to do a wig look book for you guys, but I’ve decided to give her her own little video. So, this unit right here is from Outré and it is from their Perfect Hairline collection. It is a fully hand-tied 13 x 6-inch lace wig. It is a lace front unit and it is in the style Crush and it is in the color 2T425. It also says that it is heat resistant, safe up to 400 degrees with no plucking of the hairline required! Baby hairs are included. So, this is the style card that came with the unit. So, because this is a lace front unit, as you can see, you can style it in many different ways. If you want a center part, side part, half up half down, you can do whatever your preference is.”

“So, when you open up the style card, it comes with more information about the different things and styles you can do. One thing that I did like about this unit that is different is that comes with an adjustable elastic band. I’ve never seen that in a unit before, and I thought was absolutely AMAZING! But this unit as a whole when I took it out of the packaging was amazing! Even before taking the lace off, I could already tell that it was absolutely gorgeous. I was nervous about the color because it doesn’t have dark roots, but look y’all, it doesn’t need dark roots! I’m telling you, it’s just a really sexy unit and I think that it gives you color without being too bold and too bright.”

“Now, I haven’t checked out what it looks in the sunlight yet, *inserts photo of wearing unit in sunlight* but, just looking at it right now, I’ve worn even bolder colors, so this is just a beautiful color! I feel like it’s a very sexy unit, and as you know, we are moving into February, so I’m definitely thinking about pulling this wig back out for Valentine’s day. So, this one might be a keeper! I’m just really feeling this unit!”

“One thing I will say is that this unit is very long, so if you’re not into long hair then this unit is probably not the unit for you. However, because I am 5’10, this unit works just fine for me! I would say this unit is probably about 26 inches. So hopefully you guys got a good view of how long the unit is. It is pretty long, so if you are shorter than 5’10, it going to be even longer on you.”

“This unit did come with baby hairs, so I did slick down the baby hairs and I will show you guys just a few styles of how this unit looks on me. You guys let me know what you think about it!”

“Thank you BeautyKrew for sending me this unit, as well as the other units I plan to review soon!”

OUTRE The Daily Wig SAMARA ONLY $30!

OUTRE The Daily Wig SAMARA ONLY $30! FT. BEAUTKREW |OHSOFASHIONABLE805

“Hey you guys! Welcome back to my channel. Today I have a quick show and tell video for you, and it’s brought to you by BeautyKrew.com. I’ll link all their information down below, as well as a direct link to this wig that I’m going to be showing you guys.”

“This wig is by Outré and it is part of their Daily Wig line. The name of this wig is Samara, and I have it in the color DRCPNK, it’s like a Burgundy/Reddish unit. Hopefully this one isn’t too bold, I think it’s more of a softer color. You can shift this wig to the left side, right side, or the middle part. I don’t know, you guys know I’m team right side part, so I’m probably going to go with a right-side part, but I don’t know, let’s see!”

*Removes wig from packaging and demonstrates how to apply and set wig on head. *

“First off, let’s talk about these layers…love it! LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT! Color? So pretty! It’s like a mix between a 99J and a 530 so, it’s kind of like an infused cherry and red color. I appreciate the fact that it is already dark rooted. Just in case you didn’t notice, this is a lace part wig, so it doesn’t come with any lace to cut, so you will experience a slight line of demarcation. As far as shedding and tangling, I only got one strand of hair shedding. But tangling, there is some minor tangling, but again, the texture and curls of this wig, you aren’t going to be needing to run your fingers through it. But, I will say, carry a powder brush. So, that’s kind of like a con, but it wouldn’t keep me from rocking this wig!”

“Let’s talk about the texture. It’s between... I’ll say it is more like a light Yaki texture because its definitely not silky, but it is not coarse either. I feel like the cap construction is made a little weird, so as you can see on the style card, this wig is made to be shifted from side to side. However, I feel that the cap construction was designed to be a middle part. So, when I shift the unit, it sat on my head kind of weirdly. So, I ended up having to bobby pin it down both sides to make it fit securely on my head. Second thing I wanted to mention about the cap construction is that it is not big head friendly. It’s not made for small heads or medium heads, but more for heads in between small and medium. So, definitely, if you have too much hair going on, cause I almost got too much hair going on. I have a small head, but my braids are getting longer and longer, and it almost wasn’t a good vibe for me. I only suggest this wig to my sisters out there with a regular or a small sized head, or if you don’t have a lot of hair under your wigs.”

“I really feel like this wig fits the style perfectly. It’s about 18-20 inches in length. Now you guys know I’m 5’2 and a half, your girl is a shorty. If you’re taller, it’s probably going to be more like 18 inches on you.” * Demonstrates the length of the unit with a 360-degree view. *

“Is this wig oh so approved? Absolutely! But do keep those comments that I mentioned before in mind because I don’t feel like this wig will suit everybody. I think it’s more of a special occasion kind of wig, which contradicts the name of the line that it is a part of The Daily Wig. I don’t feel like this is a daily wig for the simple fact that you’re going to need your powder brush. I don’t know if it’s just the color that I got, cause sometimes colored wig are less manageable. So, I can’t say for certain that you’re going to have the same experience with all the different colors of the wig, but with this particular color, which is fierce, it isn’t an everyday color anyway, keep a powder brush.”

“I’m definitely going to provide a link to this wig down below, so you can check it out! Shout out to BeautyKrew, they are a new online Beauty Supply website and go ahead and show them some love!”

“I got to show you this before I let you guys go. They did send me this Biotin oil, it’s called BioVita Essentials Biotin with Hair Food Therapy, and it promotes hair growth and strengthens the hair follicles. They also sent me some hair regrowth treatment. Me and my daughter have been using this for the past week and I already see my edges filling in! I have a really dry scalp, and this Biotin REALLY knocks that Dandruff OUT!”
